If you're gen x or millennial, odds are you have known some people online for *decades*. Across multiple now-dead forums, across vast gulfs of time in internet years. You've probably got a friend group that outlived multiple sites.
Gonna see a guy in London next week I've known for 20+ years online, last time I saw him in person was 8 or 10 yrs ago, we're both looking forward to comparing notes on middle age over a few scoops.
ooh scoop on scoop flavors for this ice cream social please (no actual judgement, no nasty opinions - just for funsies bc whats more fun than ice cream)
ice cream is universal (i hope)
hey as an authentic irishperson, may i ask you a thing
its opinion about apple/siri choosable accents so if you dont use that stuff its really relatively irrelevant
there are 7 accents available for siri (i'm assuming you know what that is) and i was going thru them tonight with my SO and like, i wasnt likely to choose 'irish' anyway but i was really aghast at the poor representation available
each accent has 2-7 options in varying m/f etc options but neither
and dont get me started on why like 5 options for 'american' but only 2 for 'indian' and/or 'irish' and it was actually only 2-5. there were 6 accents (american, brit, irish, ozzie, indian, south african) like whut (spoiler alert: they all mostly suck)
Yeah I don't have siri but when it comes to "authentic" accents i do know that irish people from 2 towns away from each other will spend an hour telling you why the other guy's accent is shit.
It is real and true.
One time I told my cousin o wanted to learn irish and she said don't bother if you learn it up here no one else will understand you. Funny old place.
one of my favorite corner/locals/stories in the neighborhood in south philly near where i grew up (o'jung's) that i always wondered about but didnt find out from mr. jung until the night the phillies won the WS in 2008 (but kind of always guessed, ofc) was that the family
its like, to put it in ice cream terms, dont serve me 31 flavors and call them all a different version of vanilla UNLESS THEY ARE 31 DIFFERENT VERSIONS
