Have you ever shared anything about how you safely fly internationally?
N95 or better, obviously, but... how do you handle drinking water? Meals? Stuff where you need to remove your mask?
Not Katie, but I've just been/am still traveling around Asia. Also use the Aura, except basically don't remove (even the 30 hours to China). I drank water through a straw in the airplane washroom after flushing, or very isolated parts of the airport (5am or construction area)
I ate some trail mix furtively in those layover spots. Tried to bring a protein shake to mix in a water bottle but there isn't room in coach seats to do it.
Also have a small air purifier for the security mask removal and try to run it on the plane if there's enough battery
Have another long flight tonight, hope this strategy continues to work. It's not for everyone. I feel it won't be enough if the person directly next to you is maskless with symptomatic covid, but the only other choice is don't fly (which I mostly chose for 3 years)
I did have to eat indoors a few times in China. It was a risk that could not be avoided. Tried to sit as close to the door as possible and kn95 when done eating. That's already almost 2 weeks ago, so it worked
Wait, security makes you remove the mask?
I'm not sure I could go that long without food/water. I mean, I *could*, but I'd be a cranky asshole by the end of it.
Ya they check to see you look like the person in the passport. Usually at a few points in the process.
And yeah that's why I said it's not for everyone. So far I was ok, I figure with a trip that long you feel shit regardless
Just gotta get through a few more days in Japan (albeit risky days because of my friends kids), and the flight back, which is not as long as the one out 🤞
Oh the other unmasking (which does annoy me a lot) is some airports use facial recognition now. I hear you can opt out, but wouldn't know how to try explaining that in Chinese lol
