I'm getting better about this, but my unconventional upbringing means I missed a TON of normal American culture. I'm watching a lot of TV and films lately to catch up but I still miss weird things like this. I had no idea these existed

They were definitely a thing in Canada in the 90s. Some restaurants even did them. Not sure if they predate the 90s.
