look i know this is probably not on the top of the list of things you care about today, but you simply would not BELIEVE how many other plants are related to mint
Avatar
Huh. I’ve never seen a mint plant before.

i am one million percent sure you have seen many many mint-family plants and never realized!

Quick aside mint is AWESOME to grow as a container plant and use for drinks and whatnot.

I was reading up on it and apparently it’s invasive as hell so you need to plant in a deep container. I just might do that for mocktails!

i planted all my mint in a deep container and then i let it overwinter and now it has taken over my entire side yard

I failed to grow it in a little pot on my indoor kitchen windowsill, so I've thought of having it in an outdoor container, but I fear it will make a break for it when I stop paying attention.
Avatar
I think maybe I want it on the deck so it would have to bolt several feet to make it to the soil..... Plus then it would be closer to the kitchen!
Avatar
You definitely want a deep pot.
Avatar
it is!! as long as you don't let it escape the container :)

AHHHH! LOL I used a $10 plastic pot from Lowes and it was on a raised bottom plate in the middle of a brick patio, but yes I could absolutely see the tendrils staking claim out in the lawn!! Now that I think about it…how about THAT for a nice post-mowing smell 🤔🤔🤔🤔

My favorite smell in our backyard are those basil plants.

Oh yes! And we love snagging that to eat with a home-grown tomato and some mozzarella with olive oil and balsamic Ahhhh Summer patio dining

My wife sent me a picture of how our mint is doing and this stuff really does grow like a weed.

Have I ever shared about the 2 mint plants I planted at our house in SC? I think by the time we moved, our yard was about 85-90% mint roots 😳 I was devastated when we had to move but the silver lining was that I could leave that mistake behind me 😂 Never again!

I am just picturing the new owner spending the next three months tearing up mint plants and cursing you under their breath.

Right?! But they were animals who chopped down my 4-5 mature blueberry bushes, our cherry trees AND the 2 gorgeous, 20' tall magnolia trees at the front and back of the house. 🥺 So I wish them a lifetime of minty lawns 🤷‍♀️

WHO THE HELL CHOPS DOWN MAGNOLIA?!?

I DON'T KNOW?!?! 😭😭😭 They said they were "messy"?! Oh, it's been 7.5 yrs, and I live halfway across the country now & I'm still not over it. 🥺
