He was indeed the best. Lucky to see him him in concert twice, once with Bonnie Raitt and the other with Arlo Guthrie - then there was that songwriter’s weekend at the Floribama. Nobody better. Miss him.

Yes. The Flora-Bama (dumb spellcheck on previous) started hosting a songwriter’s weekend and festival about 40 years ago that has now turned into a week-long + event. In early days John Prine, Jerry-Jeff Walker, and others would show. I think it’s bigger now.
I have a bunch of heartbroken country songs I wrote and warbled into my phone, destined to die with me, unlistened to by human ear, about that very friend who once wowed Rodney Crowell. ha!
