Ugh, deleted that thread, I'm just going to go write and see if I can get my story to say what I want it to instead of going into a worry spiral.

Book mail from Bella Books! I'm so excited to get to these :D 💙📚

Which isn’t saying “chill out, everything’s fiiiiiiiine”, it’s saying that drawing any certain conclusions from anything at all is, to say the fucking least, premature and not based in much existing evidence
Yeah I keep seeing this reaction, but it’s wholly at odds with the history of these things. The bump Reagan got was short lived and that was the exception to the rule. TR, George Wallace, Gerald Ford all survived attacks but did not win their races.

look i know we're all clinically depressed leftists but automatically going WE'RE DOOMED does not seem prudent

Not wading into any discussions, but like, choosing not to engage with any media that has any problematic elements is not a requirement to being 'a good person'; also, learning to contextualize media based on the place/time/creators from which it came can be a very useful skill.

With Prime Day next week, just keep this in mind before you click purchase: Books are listed on sale because they can afford to undercut competition and raise their profits from carts instead of smaller bookstores who need it way more. Anyway, buy books from small presses! #booksky

A cool thing about Throne is that you can crowdfund items So one person doesn't have to buy me an air purifier outright. Eight people could toss in $20 and I would get it
I've created a Throne wishlist! The two big items on there are things that would make it a lot easier to survive the summer - an air purifier that can double as a fan to keep my bedroom cooler & a mini dehumidifier for my bathroom throne.com/diannagunn

So it turns out the reason I've been sick for two months is that somehow I got asthmatic pneumonia. Which explains a lot! Slowly getting better, but it's just going to take a while, I suppose.

A bit of promo as reaching readers becomes increasingly difficult. My current contemporary fantasy series is inspired by British myth and folklore. Dan Mackmain is mostly human, but he is a dryad's son, so the Green Man sends him to solve problems when the mundane and the uncanny collide. #booksky

@diannalgunn.bsky.social Okay, I restarted Moonshadow's Guardian tonight (I started the original reread while I had insomnia and that didn't go well), but I just hit chapter five, and I'd completely forgotten from my first read how you just casually introduce zombies and vampires there :D So fun :D

So the hurricane gave us a big miss, but we are getting some rain after all. It's really pouring out right now, and it's gorgeous :D

Sometimes there's a guy who's widely respected in a creative community who also appears to be a good person, who does good things, and who has a fanbase, partly female, who admires him for Being A Decent Person Who Cares, and it turns out that he's actually terrible for whatever reason. And one 1/2

The great thing about blocking a troll without engaging is the 0% contribution I've made to amplifying their bullshit, highly recommended

Back home after errands, settling in to get some writing done. Starting a Secret Project I'm really excited about :D

Okay, so I'm following the fountain pen feed, but is there a low stress book or reading feed around here? Is Friday Reads a thing? Looking for a nice place to scroll when I need to recharge from the daily dumpster fire state of things.

Xray today (yesterday, technically, ig!) to see whether or not I have pneumonia or if it's just bronchitis, so this month is starting off well 😆

I ended up watching Bridgerton and I have a lot of thoughts, but one of them is definitely that if Eloise is going to have a straight romance, they should let Marina live and instead hook her up with Lord Debling, let her do women's rights work while he travels if she doesn't go along.
