Dragging myself through a great many job listings, and being reminded grimly that while I have all sorts of excellent skills, personal characteristics, etc., "hustle" is probably not on that list.
(I don't want to hustle or demonstrate an "obsession" with whatever your business focus is, I want to perform a reasonably complex job in a professional and high-quality manner with great reliability for reasonable wages in an air-conditioned environment.)
I was tentatively looking at "contributing faculty" positions listed by a for-profit college--like, that's not /necessarily/ a bad thing, right?--and actually snorted out loud at my desk when I saw they were offering "$700-$2200" per course. Come /on/. Even for adjunct wages, that's insulting.
Given that they specifically say it requires putting in 'contact' five days a week, and they don't specify course modality beyond 'online' or class size or credit hours, I'm guessing... it probably comes to 'below minimum wage' if the instructor isn't half-assing it entirely.
