I don't necessarily remember wanting to be a girl, besides a lot of, let's say Spirited Play Acting before I was 10. But I do remember a lot of waiting to feel like I was "normal" for most of my adolescence.

The sci-fi story I've had in my head was that the reason most aliens are humanoid was that long ago some Kirk-type first explorer just dicked down so many aliens that everyone has a little human Gengis Khan style. This is way scarier (maybe inspired by @leaftilde.bsky.social)
