The New Jersey woman who was trying out for the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders on the Netflix series... I was assuming her dad was from the south or something, but no, those parents were straight up out of North Jersey central casting. Where did that obsession come from?
There's a strain of contrarian Jerseyans who root for the Cowboys just to piss off their neighbors who root for the Giants (North Jersey) or Eagles (South Jersey). Every Jersey natives can name at least one (I still remember you, Ron).
“Dallas Cowboys cheerleader” is sort of an American cultural shibboleth meaning “a particular type of sexually desirable woman” so maybe she was just looking for the validation?
Maybe. I was just surprised, she was a well-trained dancer and I would have thought a kid growing up in Weehawken would have had her eye more on Broadway or being a Rockette or something.
