Yeah. The *point* is that Labour and Tories forever remain the big two. The system deliberately shuts out other parties and Labour intentionally kneecap their own election chances to make sure they never have to work to stay Most Loyal Oppo.
You know what if I didn't have a lesbian coming over for lunch I'd actually do statistical analysis of the election results and compare them to a dominant-party PR country (Croatia)
2726/2726
...So I'm sure we can all agree, it's more important for everyone that the left wing never reach power even if they're extremely popular and people vote for them
on the one hand fptp in the uk is terrible as it annihilates the left
on the other hand it annihilates the reform party who would otherwise have come third in the election
so its impossible to say whether its bad or not
I think when people are disenfranchised it's hard for us to draw conclusions about their voting habits - 40% of the population didn't vote, I'd guess Reform's vote share wouldn't be looking so big after that
You are kinda right, except that you're sort of arguing for things being less democratic
Eh. "Silent majority of left-wing voters" is a myth honestly, people get equally riled up to vote away from centre in both directions. Lower turnout always benefits centre parties.
I think that's usually true except that in the UK rn there are no real left parties except maybe greens (that get any kind of vote share or are even nearly as mainstream as Reform), I think in this election specifically the left would've performed better
Yeah your system is fucked beyond repair and you should vote for the neoliberal warhawk instead of the Christo-fascist dictator and I can't believe those are your options
And yet, even the faintest whiff of anti-electoralism sends liberals into a frenzy! I have to imagine they're not _really_ planning against another J6 attempt.
