Recently, Google restricted my access to my own manuscript, without warning or appeal. I figured a way around it, but I'm letting people know how not-safe Google Drive is.

Can I ask how that happened? I would not want to be unable to access my work docs.

If you share a document with anyone else, Google considers that "public" and therefore eligible for AI data scraping and censorship.

If you store a file in the Home folder of Google Drive, or if you share a file with anyone, in any folder, Google considers that "public," and they grant themselves permission to access any public documents in Drive. www.wired.com/story/what-h...
