What this article leaves out is that if you hand your unlocked phone to a police officer, they can legally search it. Unless companies develop a method that allows you to show officers insurance cards and driver license without unlocking the rest of your phone, don't. www.zdnet.com/article/digi...
This state is introducing digital driver's licenses. Here's what you need to knowwww.zdnet.com Your physical wallet is being replaced piece by piece. Here's what you need to know about using digital IDs.

Curious how France is described as political chaos because two parties with ≈60% of the seats in Parliament will negotiate a PM, whereas Netanyahu is always described as the will of the Israeli people, rather than the negotiated choice among eight parties with 53% of the seats.
Honestly, what kind of bananas frame this story like this? Is shit serious or not, fucken freaks?

“They want to eliminate national parks” is a very simple way to get just about anyone on the Stop Project 2025 train. Are there much more glaring and life-threatening goals of P25? Yes but even your most bigoted cousin does not want to see the parks system sold for parts.
This!! Start with “they want to end no fault divorce, sell national parks, and ban porn” end with tax structure.

It’s wild too, because Republicans have so, so many reasons to replace Trump on the ballot, and he even ran a primary with opponents and everything…but GOP voters have made their preference clear and they’re the only voters who are legitimate.

Which makes the decision all the less defensible. The hypothetical was raised at SCOTUS OA, at OA at DDC, and in the dissent, and at every stage Trump's counsel and, eventually, the majority just didn't address it, even though it has a very straightforward answer

Right. The reason everyone (except, for some reason, the SCOTUS majority) understands Biden can't ST6/drone strike his opponent is because everyone understands it's (a) not authorized (b) not official (c) violates the basic social contract in multiple directions, so would be a gross abuse of office.

Long elections waste immense amounts of money. they harass potential voters into apathy. They play into the horse-race, scandal-fed view of politics that feeds deeply unserious media coverage. They NOT INCIDENTALLY make it difficult/impossible for campaigns to deal with last-minute surprises.
note how long it took the French from calling the election to holding not 1 but 2 votes? and organizing the shit out of the second one? LESS THAN ONE MONTH A national election does not have to be a painful 1.5-2 year process! the US election campaign should quite honestly not even have started yet!!

Every local newspaper and news show should be badgered about reporting this. Every city council meeting should have people saying fix this! Every minute stat Rep offices should be getting phone calls saying No to not feeding hungry children for free!

The opting out is especially wild Like, Republican governors are being actively presented with money to feed kids and affirmatively saying 'I would like children to starve actually' (Also, if I'm a Dem campaigner, I'm making some ads and placing some op eds about this immediately)

And their definition of 'porn' includes mentioning gay and trans people in any way as we are walking living breathing vacuuming washing dishes driving a car checking the mail grocery shopping reading a book crafting a shawl playing a game hanging out voting 'porn'
Tell every person you know that the GOP wants to ban porn. Let them imagine a hellscape where they both have no human rights and no legal sources of weird smut to drown their sorrows in

100%. It takes the (imo correct) basic idea that you need to distinguish president as office and president as man, and then sort of smooshes that idea along with large numbers of obviously unrelated concepts into a chatgpt-esque bullshit machine to get to a result that's just completely unhinged

This is the part that really caught me off guard in the opinion. Folks rightly focus on, well, the top-line. But this is just a complete misunderstanding of executive privilege or where it comes from, and is patently, grossly invented for one man and for one case

I do think we should keep hitting the GOP hard on “they want to take your freedom away, because they hate America.”
The billboard designers perfectly imitated the usual aesthetic sensibilities of wacko anti-abortion signage, and I need to stop and get a photo of this thing (can’t find one online yet).

Please note the wildly incorrect polling in France. No matter what the cacophony of pundits keep saying, polls are not predictive, and are never the end of the story. Organizing, volunteering, engaging in conversation, and direct action are effective tools. Let's use them here too.
BREAKING NEWS: Voters turned out in numbers not seen in decades to stop the far-right National Rally from taking power in the French National Assembly. Polls predicted a first-place finish for National Rally, which instead came in third in initial results as polling stations closed.

For a lot of students, it’s also about identifying gaps in their high school learning and (hopefully) helping them close the gap before classes get harder. Chemistry is a lot harder if your high school algebra teacher was the football coach.

But the idea behind this—that the robot can convey information—fundamentally misunderstands what is being taught in those core classes. You’re teaching people how to do problems: how to check your work, how to solve problem sets, how to generalize solving problem sets to other problems…

I keep thinking about how the SCOTUS justices, who have proven they care a TON about their media coverage, issued the worst decision since Dredd Scott and then got to happily watch outlets spend the next week running 10,000 “Biden in Trouble” stories and like 5 “Hm, Immunity is Interesting” stories
