I would have sworn you were younger than I.

Nah, I’m old. But I can’t tell if Bluesky skews older than other social media, or if the lack of an algorithm means I follow people who are into a lot of the same things I am, and thus, are older.

Here's another data point for you

I would have sworn that everyone on the internet was younger than you.

I've put you on the Mises Caucus mailing list

What the fuck that's worse than putting someone on the sex offenders registry. Well it's equal. Okay so they're literally the same list but what I'm getting at is that it's unnecessarily harsh.
The amount of people who won’t be able to appreciate the cruelty is f this…
Avatar
That's just cruel.

Sir, have you no decency? No-one deserves that!

Oh you sweet summer child you need to go feast your eyes on the libertarian insanity of the Mises website.

Here's one more on how a truly just and free society should allow child markets.

Well, it was 1976 and lunar lander has a birthdate between 1969 (DEC PDP8) and 1979 (Atari arcade).

Better choice, with a hat tip to the two Steves (Wozniak and Jobs, coder and designer respectively for BREAKOUT by Atari, and released in 1976). I once had a desire (back in the 80s) to create a “Woz not Jobs” t-shirt, but I digress…

First computer game I played was ASCII Star Trek, over an acoustic coupler, when i was 12, but it was coded in 1971, when I was only 6.

Oh, I played the hell out of that Freshman year. On my roommates Apple Ii. That and Wizardry I.

Yep. Ultima II, Wizardry, Zork II.

To me that game was all about the Peter Gunn theme. Had to not crash so the theme would keep playing.

I had a privileged childhood: my parents had Best of Mancini on cassette. Peter Gunn, Pink Panther, & Baby Elephant Walk all together.

Basic fantasy RPG combat.

Wow, I didn’t realize how early that microgame came out… I thought it was early 80s.
Avatar
Yep, it was released in 77, along with Ogre, Chitin:I, and WarpWar.
Avatar
Did you know that Steve Jackson reacquired rights to the game and is selling it again?

I still remember the excitement of unfolding that hex map for the first time, and playing Death Test.

I just saw that when I looked up the history. I remember being at a con in Denver and the Tunnels & Trolls people were griping/laughing about how TFT was "cut whole cloth" from T&T.
Avatar
Yes, the game with precise second-by-second combat on a hes grid was *totes* stolen from a game where each side just rolls big handfuls of dice. :)

Did you play it on the table version at Pizza Hut though?
Avatar
Pizza Hut didn’t have video games in Australia. That would have changed everything…

I STILL have this book...got it from a friend when I first became interested in D&D as a kid; book is a bit beat up, but still intact

My first console and game and I don't know that it has been surpassed
Avatar
Yup, Spacewar, (and that would be pre-release but developed in 1961...)

I searched for games of the appropriate year. I think that screenshot’s from the arcade version, which I actually played when it was new.

Finally someone that beats me at the greymuzzle game. I stuck with home console, but still only got back to
