*stops with a salted caramel chocolate truffle half-way to her mouth* Um

I just don't get salted caramel, I mean, I don't like caramel to start with so that doesn't help, but then you put salt in it. Why. Why would you do that.
Avatar
Salt intensifies the flavors of caramel, vanilla, and chocolate, weirdly. When you put it in caramel, especially, it really brings out the butter flavor. Your Palate May Vary.

Oh I understand the rationale, I also just hate it. I love those flavours, the salt just spoils it for me. I also hate cinnamon in apple pie too. I *love* apple pie. Why ruin it with cinnamon. I understand I'm in a minority here, but I'm right dammit.

Well I'm just going to eat your share of salted caramel then. Win win.

Going to be enjoying some sweet & salty popcorn later just to enrage Ant specifically. I mean, I often have it, but tonight I shall think of you as I do. 😹

I tried salted caramel once. It tasted of salt.
Avatar
Alas. But might have been oversalted, hard to say.

I... Look, I just really like it, OK?

Well if you're going to make valid points...fine. 😂

This, so much. Caramel is great, salt is great, but they need to be kept apart. And as for this...

Yeah, I struggle enough with overly acidic IPA's pretending they taste of "Yuzu Citrus" rather than fucking battery acid, and now this. Salty beer - what the fuck are crisps for then?
Avatar
Don't start me on cloudy over-hopped nettle juice that makes your mouth pucker like the grease nipple on a Model T Ford. And no, putting a brightly-coloured depiction of a cartoon bush baby on the tin doesn't redeem it.

More like it. Which ones in Lidl/Aldi should we buy?

TBF I thought the man salted the workers’ beer
Avatar
Post WW1 complaint about weakened ales? IIRC that's where the 3.5% stuff originates: bosses complaining that the beer's too strong and they can't get the workers back in't mill, so the breweries make 'small beer'. Or it's a myth.

Göse is a Thing. Not a Thing I like, but it has been around for a while.

Ooh, live and learn, thank you.

Right? Use some damn ammonium chloride for a change.

Smarties might go better with fleur de sal I guess
