So I guess this is important to mention since I cover CBP and the FMC for a trade publication which is that CBP does a lot of work enforcing customs law for imports and getting rid of DHS would throw that work into a tailspin. That doesn’t invalidate the bad work the agency does but…

The agency is also in charge of investigating evasion of anti dumping and countervailing duties. The duties are set up by the commerce department so this is something that could be reorganized but again this would be more complicated on paper. www.cbp.gov/trade/eapa#:....
