The biggest howler here is identifying as a "heritage American", which inevitably means "I'm descended from ppl who were here at the Founding and that's the only thing about my life I can pretend to be proud of, so I hold it over everyone else and demand to be able to rule them."
This is your enemy. His pinned post is unhinged racist trash, but he is serious about the agenda

really cannot emphasize enough how plainly all this proves that the first priority of the next Democratic administration needs to be democracy reform --filibuster --electoral college --court reform --dc and pr statehood --new voting rights act --gerrymandering

Yup. Biden had one job: lock up the traitors and he did basically jack shit. Rolling up some drunk car dealers isn't cutting it.

The fact that no electeds last time were punished for trying to steal the election predictably lead to out-in-the-open maneuvering to do the same thing in 2024. It's bad

Makes my skin crawl that these people have to spend the twilight of their lives being denied justice by people who weren’t even alive when they were brutalized and that what were supposed to be the best years of their lives was stained by an overt rejection of justice.

If Trump is winning New Mexico and Virginia against Biden, they're is no Democratic candidate who would beat Trump.

"Here are the rules. We all live by them. You wanna lead us? You live by 'em too. No exceptions." "Okay, but what if something really bad happens, or I otherwise need to break the rules?" "Too bad. Don't take the job. The main rule is: don't break the rules."

These are the cream of the crop of the liberal legal intelligentsia 🤷 How is it any wonder Republicans so completely out-maneuvered Democrats on court stacking? The Liberal establishment is not coming to save us. From their ivory towers they can hardly even see us.

The DoJ failed us all by not indicting the Congressional insurrectionists who tried to overthrow the government on January 6th, 2020. It can fail us again by not indicting them now. Preventing a fascist takeover is the DoJ's only goal that counts.

IIRC wasn't it something like, between 15-20 people doing all the legwork to get that shit done in every state in the country? what could a small group of, say, 50 actual progressive leftists accomplish, I wonder?

in a somewhat similar vein, i am reminded of the large number of book bans that passed because a small number of people called the right numbers often enough to complain. playing the game can in fact pay dividends

the unexpected thing about Talking To Your Representatives is that it can actually work, if enough people are similarly mad about the same thing. you won’t get the elected on the phone. but they will hear about it from their annoyed staff, who might not have time to do anything else
thinking of all the underpaid capitol hill staffers who will get yelled at by constituents who want to Talk To Their Representatives

lets be honest, the toughest SOB holding a US passport is Jimmy Carter and it isn't close to close, one of the few people in history who went into a nuclear reactor came back out and nothing at all happened and now dude has lasted over a year in hospice, literal brain cancer cannot beat this guy

There is nothing about these SCOTUS judges run amok that 40 million people on the streets of DC for a week wouldn’t change. C’mon liberal activists. Wake the fuck up. You have the access to funds to get this done.

Just to add, Trump’s whole political persona is built on being a successful bully. Biden dropping out would strengthen that persona immeasurably. And it’s not like much of the mainstream media would try to counter that.

i’m just asking you to take a moment to consider this from biden’s perspective: most of the fundamentals still look good for him. he’s beaten trump once. swapping the nominee this late has never worked, and there is *every* reason to believe republicans in every contested state would contest it
anyone who thinks harris is gonna get an easy walk from the nation’s newspapers and editorial boards if she were to become the nominee is absolutely lying to themselves

Sometimes the benefit of being older is knowing that we've been here before. I'm not saying it's smooth sailing but 4 months is a lifetime in politics and polling has become increasingly unreliable.

At the putsch, a bullet missed Hitler by a foot. He drew a sympathetic judge. The Wall St crash revitalised his ailing party. Hindenburg conveniently died. The Reichstag burned at just the right moment. He survived several assassination attempts. People like this have the luck of the devil.
I'm constantly marveling at Trump's luck as a politician. He only won in 2016 because he ran against one of the Democrats' weakest candidates. In 2024 he ends up running against someone even weaker.

I get that it is very painful but I need y’all to remember that this was just a fraction of what happened in October 2016. It was like three years in one month. At that point, campaigning is useless. People are already voting. Or are we forgetting what an October Surprise is to comfort ourselves?
First national election since Shelby v Holder! A massive negative headline dump three days before the election! Russian propagandists dumping thousands of DNC emails into the mainstream hours after the Access Hollywood tape surfaces! Republicans refusing to join a statement on that interference!

If anyone wants to understand why Mexico has such problems with corruption, it's LITERALLY because their Constitution actually PROHIBITS prosecuting presidents, sitting or retired. That has meant Mexican presidents can and thus generally do whatever they want, legal or not.

It's hardly a silver lining but the sweeping nature of this ruling lends itself to being summed up by behavior that most Americans will find shocking. "The President has immunity to kill any citizen he chooses" is unforgettable.

Watched Hit Man (2023). That was clever, really well-written. And Glen Powell is the real thing, which I was definitely not expecting.
