Returned *Manhunt* to the library in defeat - reached the renewal limit after many-x reading a couple pages, going "I'm not in a good emotional space to hurt right now and there's a lot of dishes in the sink", then leaving it for a week or two
I think I will finish it next fall 😅
If it helps any, the time it takes to read is inversely proportional to how good it is. The 100k word stuff I’ve ripped through in a couple of hours is the stuff that sticks with me.
Yes, this.
If it's that good, that well written, I basically devour the book. maybe not in two hours anymore (that was in my 30s) but if I finish it in a couple days or a week, you know I'm buying it, shelving it, and referring it to everyone.
For me at the least , I've only ever read a book that quick if I was thoroughly enjoying it to the point of losing track of time completely and being so engrossed by it. 😅
Your such a proficient leader, quick scanning and processing text to comprehend and assimilate information ate an accelerated pace😳 you must minimize subvocalization 🤔
If I take the time to sit down and finish a book quickly, it means I didn't just like it, I LOVED IT. It means I couldn't put it down. It means I put aside other projects and chores just for that book.
