I read The Lover by Rebecca Sacks, which was very weird to read during a war in Gaza given that the back half of the book takes place during… a war in Gaza. Anyway it’s not as good or compelling as The City of a Thousand Gates, but it’s not bad.
Sacks seems very fascinated with the question of how North American Jewish women become ardent Zionists and her answer always seems to be “want a big strong Sabra to protect them”
Weird. It's pretty simple so not sure why they would have such an issue. Jews, man, woman, nonbinary, become Zionists by recognizing and embracing our Jewish identity.
