I feel like there’s some sort of Hagbah/Gelilah (un-Gelilah?) joke to make here, but I can’t quite formulate it.
I also have this sitcom image in my head of Rav Kahana under the bed and these shorts come flying off the bed and land with the words right in front of his face.
