Wow. Meta has blocked all links to the Kansas Reflector—the nonprofit newsroom that broke the story of the Marion County Record police raid—likely because they published a column this morning criticizing the platform's censorship of climate change-related ads.

NEW: A local Kansas news site published a column critical of Facebook—then Meta banned all their links.
I talked to the site's editor about the attempt to silence them and the possibility of lawyering up: www.thehandbasket.co/p/facebook-k...
This is the Kansas Reflecter. They are the best local paper here in our neck of the woods, IMO. They keep us updated on our legislature, school boards, etc. They’ve been targeted for harassment by the local sheriff who raided their offices and homes, ultimately killing the 94 yo owner, Joan Meyer.
My pleasure. I thought it was weird. I even went to the link and used a few free malware scanning sites too. I sent FB screenshots of the "all clear" notices.
Are you able to see if your post was restored? It seems like they're allowing you to post links again (except for the column critical of FB), but didn't know if that meant old posts were no longer flagged
In Canada, where all news orgs are blocked on FB due to blackmailing the government about its FB-taxing legislation, FB has extended the privilege of "news organization" to... the CJPME, the country's premier Pro-Palestinian advocacy group. So now they can't post links to Facebook.
The link tax is a bad idea for completely separate reasons, just raise general tax on the company and subsidize news directly, but taxing links has always and will always be bad
That’s why my friends and I refer to it as Fascist Book. It needs a good treating like we did with “X”. Facebook is now completely useless for anything other than selling your data and stealing your photos for its AI.
I have an article from 2022 where I wrote about Trump’s weakening of epa laws and the effects on the ecosystem and food supply. It was also taken down as a cyber security threat today.
That's...bizarre. Why today? I mean, I kinda get the Kansas Reflector thing; they ran an opinion piece critical of Meta this morning, so the whiny guy who owns Meta took down a link to them. But why your piece?
Yep, fb notified me it removed a post from a couple years ago and I was confused until I realized it was a link to a Reflector story. They can really use support, it's one of the few quality journalism outlets in KS.
they were okay with all the Russian disinfo running rampant on their platforms, cyber bullying and suicide, stalking, etc. but this is where they draw the line
Not sure if the same, parallel or different:
FB just turned off access to Green Left, entirely [this from Twitter]. FB did this before, no explanation so community rebuilt it.
Elsewhere, Meta keeps 'losing' posts by WorkingClassHistory on Instagram.
Almost like Zucks has an ideology at play. 😐
