Oh 100% agree on Clapton being a scumbag. All you have to do is really listen to the lyrics of “Promises” to know what a passive-aggressive, abusive turd he is toward women.

I refuse to listen to his songs anymore. Not as protest, but because I can't hear them without thinking about how disgusting he is. I was a huge fan in his early days. Feels like another part of my past that's been burned to the ground.

So not only was it a love song about his actual best friend’s wife, he stole the best part from Rita. No surprise he’s turned into what he is. What a fucking dickwhistle.

This song gives me icks because it was on the Jane Fonda workout tape that my mom used to dress up in a legwarmer/headband cheesy workout outfit, take over the TV, and work out in the middle of the living room floor “to encourage us to exercise.” 🙄 (We never joined her bc she was being a dork)
