I see this claim a lot, but it can't be more celebrated than starting a new year, can it? Do you have a source for it?

I'm actually not positive, since not all cultures celebrate the same year. Lunar cycles are also popular.

Not all countries celebrate the same day of independence from Britain either. My hypothesis is that if you add up all the people who celebrate at least one new year, it's greater than the number of people who celebrate at least one Britain-related independence day. But I don't actually know.
