"you're not American why do you care about the 4th of July" mate I'm Indian, any day someone got the Brits to fuck off back to their country is a national holiday for me
Greetings from Sydney. Amen to that. It's bloody galling that an Australian child cannot aspire to be head of state. King Charles and Queen Camilla of Australia doesn't roll easily off the tongue
I feel that if Australia day were pitched as a "semi-independence from Britain" type holiday it would go over a lot better than it currently dues with the ongoing counter-pitch of "Isn't Invasion Day more accurate?"
Sadly I doubt Britain would agree.
I hesitantly propose there would even be a demographic who would reply with "Good riddance!"
Unfortunately they're not the demographic that have our political leaders on speed dial.
Hope to see "It's Just England, Now, And Frankly Cornwall And Yorkshire Have A Group Text That We're Not Not Worried About" Day celebrated in my lifetime.
Not all countries celebrate the same day of independence from Britain either. My hypothesis is that if you add up all the people who celebrate at least one new year, it's greater than the number of people who celebrate at least one Britain-related independence day. But I don't actually know.
