Though at least in The Dark Knight torture doesn’t really work for him - indeed the police resorting to punitive torture is how the Joker escapes in the first place
it's wild that we adopted this moral line but not "wow torture sucks actually" to the point where torture is a mostly unexamined and totally accepted part of Batman's toolkit, usually depicted as getting info from thugs. but man, even 24 kinda walked back the torture thing a bit before the end!!
In the Arkham games Batman threatens it alot albeit i feel like its mostly used as a joke because its like Batman threatens it and the perp more or less instantly gives up everything because Batman is so scary.
