this is true of many things, not just politics, but often people in this position are better at writing/talking about a thing than they are actually understanding it. your halftime analysis is designed to keep the audience, not necessarily inform them
wonder if some of this is also just being too immersed in politics. like how people from other cultures see the weird parts of yours that you stopped noticing
My job requires dispassionate analysis, which I really strive for. Unfortunately if you take that to the “elite” level that mostly involves maintaining access while smelling your own farts. They perfectly understand and rationalize it away by telling themselves the leopard will never eat them
