More than once, a friend (who no one would ever call a redneck) has said that he never did Boy Scouts because he was “too much of a redneck.”
Leaving aside whether he is/was a redneck (he wasn’t), does this even make sense? Do rednecks not do Boy Scouts?
My lawyers have informed me that it isn’t my place to say whether someone is or is not a redneck. I will revise my previous statement to say that he has spent his entire adult life in ways seemingly calculated to not appear to be a redneck.
everything kids were supposed to learn in scouts is stuff a redneck would feel obligated to teach them himself, outsourced to The State. i was pissed when my daughter was taught "entrepreneurship" in girl scouts and not how to cut a bitch in close quarter fighting
people in my neck of the woods were mad about it for reasons that basically summed up to: Not Enough Gun, but could not get insurance for Gun Scouts, so they just pulled all their kids out
the funny thing is i think they did used to teach kids to shoot, but they dropped that along with teaching them how to start fires. maybe we should start antifa scouts, teach kids sabotage etc
My family and friends were all rednecks and we did Boy Scouts for sure
Good way to go on some trips and pick up some skills you wouldn't get at home, like your buddy's dad who is an EMT shows the troop how to immobilize broken limbs
