Gosh - this one is gorgeous, and different from the historical ones I've seen.
While he's best known for his historical scenes, his output was quite varied, including scenes like this one- "In the Garden," 1950

Yep, he passed away the following year - and your question is making me wonder what his last works were, and if he left anything unfinished at the time of his death
This is such a great piece, I keep coming back to look some more
