I finished a book today. I know that doesn’t seem unusual, but seeing as for many years I have read 100+ books per year and this year I have struggled to read anything but the novels I read before bed (shoutout to The Murderbot Diaries by @marthawells.bsky.social!), this is significant to me.

Weird dream last night. Supposed to play a gig, completely unprepared. Didn’t have my guitar, someone finally hands me one, but there’s no tuner, no gear is working, no idea what songs are on the set list. Lights go out & I’m scrambling frantically in the dark & people are screaming at me to go on.

Please take the 4 minutes and give this your attention. Focus on what you can control. Learn to love the work itself. Even if you reach the end and it finds some measure of success (out of your control), there comes a day you have to do the work again. If you don’t love the work, what then?

It’s late and I realized I haven’t eaten today. But @sarahmillswrites.bsky.social would be proud. I remembered I have some instant oatmeal so now enjoying a bowl of that :)
