I recently saw a statistic that if being pregnant was a job in America it would be the 6th most dangerous one.

A police officers pregnant wife is 25x more likely to die from complications than the officer is to die in the line of duty.

Pregnant person here. I am literally seen 3x weekly for complications. Cannot imagine driving long distances to make all these appointments.

That…seems low? There must be some scary ass jobs.

That’s what I thought too!

It does? But then you look at the list of jobs with high fatality rates, and they all make sense. Loggers. Roofers. Pilots. Commercial fishers. Anything that involves a lot of driving.

Yep, and that's assuming that you *only* count death during childbirth and not death via miscarriage, pregnancy comorbidities, or deaths arising from post-partum. In 2021: 5th Refuse/Recyclable collectors at 34:10k [Death during childbirth at 32.6:10k] 6th Structural Iron/Steel workers at 25.1:10k

I was hospitalized a few times for complications, but also almost died by getting murdered, which is also disturbingly common for pregnant people.

And I’d read that guns are #1 cause of death for children.

Makes sense especially with our for profit healthcare system

And, a woefully underpaid one as well.
