No polls yet, so let’s do this the old-fashioned way: Which decade/period of silent films are you most interested in learning more about? A. 1890s B. 1900s C. 1910s D. 1920s E. 1930s F. Post-era silents

1910s to the '20s, all genres but particularly horror. Dennis Gifford taking the time in his A PICTORIAL HISTORY OF HORROR MOVIES to talk in some detail about silent horror was a formative influence for me.

1910s the technology is there but it is further back than a lot of us usually look. Lots of personal blindspots.

1910s, as there some crazy variations between countries/studios/years
1910s, when the Americans began to take over the film world from those counties who had to deal with the earliest parts of the War to End All Wars.

In the last month I've watched Blind Husbands, Tepeyac, East Lynne and I'm awaiting delivery of the L'Inferno blu-ray.

The 1910s. That was when movie technology really started to mature, while WWI threw in complications.

Obviously all are interesting, but personally I like the really earlier films. It's fascinating to see when the media was still new and people were kinda getting super experimental with what they could even do with it.

1910s. Seems like a period during which the medium progressed so much

D. most of the silents I enjoy are from the 1920s.

I’ll be different and write A; I think the development of the technology and people figuring out how to get the shots they wanted is pretty neat!
