"Man, everything is so dystopian. Maybe going on to social media might cheer me up." (Logs on and starts sighing.) "Weird how that didn't help."

For Stereogum, I talked to National Treasure Duff McKagan about insane Guns N' Roses videos, toxic masculinity, and appearing alongside Jim Carrey in a Dirty Harry film. He also threw down some solid investment advice, like a mensch. This was a fun one, enjoy! www.stereogum.com/2266852/duff...

I could not possibly be more excited to become a slobbering, crying mess tonight when Sunny Day Real Estate play "The Blankets Were the Stairs" and “Grendel.” Though, of course, I will no longer exist after Jeremy Enigk hits those high notes on “Pillars.”

I feel like not enough people are aware that before Maya Rudolph joined SNL, she was a touring keyboard player for The Rentals, which at the time was viewed as Matt Sharp's retro lark between the first two Weezer albums. www.youtube.com/watch?v=VW15...

For his first movie, Ron Howard asked Roger Corman for more money so he could have more cameras and bikers. Roger told him "look kid, I'm not going to give you the money for that. But the good news is that if you do a good job for me, you never have to work for me again."

Starting the weekend off by listening to Things We Lost In The Fire, one of Low's many masterpieces. Miss you Mimi, miss you Steve.

Steve Albini's last post.
From the beginning, the danger hasn't been Trump. He is constitutionally lazy, ignorant, unambitious and just generally not good at things. The danger is from people supposedly in opposition doing fuck all to stop the rest of his coterie, categorically more evil, ambitious and skilled than him.

RIP Keith LeBlanc. The goth and goth-adjacent community will always treasure your contributions to Nine Inch Nails, The Cure, Ministry, Depeche Mode and many others, as well your pioneering work in the early hip-hop scene. Today we wear all-black in your honor.

Jonathan Glazer made incredible videos for Blur, Radiohead and Massive Attack, and the "Rabbit In Your Headlights" clip is a masterpiece. And yet, we must drop the cool guy routine and admit that his best video is "Virtual Insanity."

Whenever we get truly braindead discourse like the Sydney Sweeney thing, I always think "I really miss Mel Magazine, they would have had the best take."

The first season of Bsky was ok, it had some stuff I liked whenever I tuned In, but it didn't keep my interest. This season is off to a better start, the writers fixed some problems and there's more energy. Bsky is in its "Justified Season Two" era.

When Gavin Newsom runs for President, it will be hilarious to watch political reporters with fairly mainstream tastes try to grapple with his cousin Joanna's whole deal. Frankly, I can't wait.
