This is quite reminiscent of much of the European far right vote I think - anti immigration, economically left populism (none of the parties are remotely economically left, and are all obsessed by deregulation and enriching themselves.)

I wonder if the differentiator is “who counts as ‘ordinary people’?” (And more to the point who doesn’t?)
The Survey report is interesting - notable that the group who voted Con in 2019 and had a reform VI this time was three times bigger than Con in 2019/Labour VI...
It does look like if you hold essentially right-wing views, but trust rich people to lead the country and large businesses to manage themselves and drive the economy, you're Conservative, and if you don't, you're Reform - hence the paradox of more public services/less redistribution of wealth...

Those first four questions all point the way to Labour going back to the socialist principles on which the party was founded. I won't hold my breath.

It appears that Reform voters, who are often in deprived areas with high unemployment & poor health outcomes want to make their own lives worse, by curbing spending in those areas 🙄

I like to think of it as the Alan Clark/Norman Tebbit faultline

Basically the right has stolen anti authoritarian anger from the left, not just in the UK either.
