📷🟢 Dismals Canyon, Phil Campbell, AL. The park has several picturesque slot canyons and waterfalls, but is best known for sheltering a very large group of Orfelia fultoni fly larvae with bright blue bioluminescence. The flies are so dense, at night the walls of the canyon look like a starry sky.

Lost in the ongoing Trumpapalooza is the excellent news that a malaria vaccination developed at Oxford Univ. over the last 30 years and costing only £3 per shot is being unrolled in malaria-prone countries. If it fulfills its promise, this will make an enormous difference to so many lives.

I sold my fancy camera things a while back. My birthday present to myself is retiring the cell phone camera and getting a micro four thirds. If only there were more lenses, but we'll see how the base lens does. Now comes the hard part.

🌱Crown Pineapple Lily (Eucomis comosa), I think. I purchased this blind as a small plant with interesting leaves last fall to fill in a spot. I bet these would look great as a border.

Fountain pen users might find this funny: I was in Marshalls checking the notebook section for finds & spied a Leuchtturm. Grabbed it - and it's someone's journal left there, half used. Poor guy/gal. Don't judge me for the candy decorated Hello Kitty notebook. The paper is great.
