Since it's newer than Good Omens and Sandman this may very well be true both subjectively and objectively.

It was made for Max. Then they realized they couldn't air it for a very long time so it went to Netflix who were thrilled to have it.

I heard about that. I’m just saying Netflix doesn’t have a good record for shows. They either ruin it like Resident Evil or they cancel it after just one season. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Sandman was good, and they are shooting the next season as I type this. It made sense for Dead Boy Detectives to go to Netflix, not only because they could air it. But it is literally the show we shot for Max. (Plus two scenes that were implied but could now be shown.)

Why couldn't those scenes be shown before?

Because Sandman was at Netflix.

Why couldn't Max air them?

Pipeline problems. They didn't have room on their schedule until late 25 or early 26.

Also, screw Max.

Netflix does the one-season cancellation thing to avoid paying residuals.

I’ve so far watched RE up to episode 3 and don’t think it deserves nearly all the hate it’s getting. (Of course it may yet faceplant very hard.) It seems far closer to the spirit of the source than any of those preposterous Milla Jovovich vehicles.

The k-dramas have solved this by having one season but 16 (25) episodes

Ask the fans of Our Flag Means Death what they think of Max. Netflix has also rescued shows that got cancelled in other places (e.g. Lucifer).

My point being Max/ HBO makes better shows than Netflix. And that nobody can’t say it’s not true . 🤷🏽‍♂️

Objective statements about quality of art can't be made, so this is all down to individual opinion. I think Castlevania, the Witcher, Trese, and One piece are all fantastic examples of Netflix programming. Production companies don't make art.

Arcane was quite simply the best show I saw in 2021, and that was Netflix as well.

First time caller, long time reader here: I've been keeping my head down since I never got to read this and want to go in to the show fresh, but what's the viewing age range for the show?

I showed my fiancé the trailer. His only reaction was "when?" We're excited for this!

I've never even heard of these boys before and I've already committed to getting a Netflix subscription just for them. The sub will definitely sit and collect dust afterwards like all my other streaming subs, but I'm certain it'll be worth it 😌

I'll certainly have a warm spot for those guys. Season of Mists was my first graphic novel back when I was a kid, and I read that sucker over and over. (There wasn't a good comic shop nearby, so it was a good year or so before I got more Sandman)

See, this is the story of the artist who loved to make his fans feel good. While we were waiting for another season of our TWO already favourite shows, he said wait and see, and he gave us a THIRD favourite show. Reader, we were the most lucky fandom in the history of fandoms. And we knew it.

Great comic. Will definitely give the show a shot.
