If I had a nickel for every time MSNBC tried to screw over a Black woman with the last name Harris of her position and status, I'd have two nickels.
Which isn't a lot, but... you know the rest of the line.
As a male member of the Harris family myself, I tend to notice stuff like that often.
Well, looking at the #PrimetimeEmmys nominations, four thoughts:
1) An FX show that actually aired on FX is likely going to win Best Drama.
2) We're still calling The Bear a comedy, huh? Okay.
3) Lenore Zahn was robbed.
4) I can officially and finally retire this meme because it's not happing:

This is a bad bar graph. And I'm going to tell you why.
Imagine putting a similar graph talking about Favorite Pizza Toppings. You'd have Pepperoni, Sausage, and Others. And then you list Ham, Bacon, Steak, Beef, Onions, Peppers & Pineapple after Others.
A reminder about Mar-A-Lago Donnie.
No matter what they try to sell you, he's still the same lying, tax-cheating, charity-robbing, scamming, rapist, dog-loathing, felonious, treasonous, bigoted, racist, sexist, hate-driven, arrogant, amoral, narcissistic bastard he always was.
With a new hat.
There are two things that come to mind when thinking about the Doctor Who x Star Trek SDCC panel.
1) They're doing a panel together and we'll probably get an official crossover. 🤯

Call me nuts, but I legitimately think that My Adventures with Superman moved from the Cartoon Network brand to Adult Swim brand because of LGBT+ elements. Last week's episode actually contained a romantic kiss between two ladies.
CN has been trying to shy away from those elements globally too.
*rubs temples*
Are you KIDDING ME?!?
WAVY, c'mon, son... Defy TV's shutting down in a couple of days. ION Plus, the channel that's replacing it, already has a slot on the ION affiliate. Unless this is actually DARE, which seems kind of superfluous when they have The Nest. *sighs*
Been through a lot lately.
Like... a lot. Life on the other side of the screen sucks. Life on this side of the screen isn't much better.
But I'm fine.
I needed to focus on other things, deal with my frustrations & doubts, and work. I'll be back soon...ish.
My answer to both? Fade from Blood Syndicate, probably my 2nd favorite of the Milestone books from 1993 (Hardware's still my favorite), and probably the title that resonated with me the most since it was such an intersectionality of Black culture rarely seen in media at the time (or since).
For the comic fans following me: what was the first LGBTQ character you recall reading? And do you have a favorite LGBTQ comic character?

Wait, no.
I do have something to say about Jamie Kellner.
He may not be the worst executive associated with Cartoon Network, but he definitely pushed out the best.
"Ooh, that Kellner!"
I don't know if it's ironic or a bit of salt in the wound, but the slogan of DARE is, and I kid you not, "DARE to Defy." tvnewscheck.com/programming/...
RIP Donald Sutherland, star of such fantastic films like The Dirty Dozen, M*A*S*H, Klute, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Ordinary People, The Hunger Games, and countless other classics. What a legacy.
Screw it. I'm doing it myself.
30 years is way too long, and a lot has happened in animation in that time. So many shorts had been overlooked in the past. So many great shorts have come out since. Just saw one last week.
And What's Opera, Doc? is not the greatest cartoon ever made.
100.
2025.
My Adventures with Superman #4 will feature a wonderful tribute to Akira Toriyama by RICARDO LÓPEZ ORTIZ.
Man, I wish Toriyama had the chance to draw Superman officially. You could tell he loved the character and the mythos. It's fun to dream though.
*In James Earl Jones gravitas* This... is Warner Bros.
Or, rather, a cover to a Multiversus tie-in comic coming from DC in September, Multiversus: Collision Detected
1992.
Imagine being a 14-year-old Black kid who writes & draws comics and seeing this photo of four finely-dressed Black gentlemen (one of whom had local roots) with great drawings in a newspaper announcing plans to launch their own comic company. You feel inspired.
I'm 46. I'm still inspired.
While The Comic Strip wasn't as successful as ThunderCats, you can appreciate the variety this weekly block presented. I doubt Warner Bros, which owns the series outright, will do much with them, but at least we're finally getting TigerSharks figures soon. And it's nice to see a sampler online.
It is March 17, 1997, and I'm watching Toonami.
It is July 10, 1999, and I am watching Toonami.
It is May 26, 2012, and I am watching Toonami.
It is May 31, 2024, and I am watching #Toonami
MeTV Toons officially revealed its launch schedule. metv-toons.s3.amazonaws.com/MeTV_Toons_S...
It's a pretty solid schedule of classic cartoons. A few surprises revealed (the ALF cartoons, The Greatest Adventures: Stories from the Bible, & Histeria!), Bullwinkle holding down the 11 PM slot. YEAH!
I like Hot Tamales. Good little chewy cinnamon candies with a bit of a fiery kick. Wish they made a peppermint variant as well. Peppermint that's neither a gum nor a hard candy, but with the minty freshness and fire of an Altoid. We need that.
A couple of weeks ago, I made a clean version of the old AAP title card for Looney Tunes. Some said it "looked cursed" because it was vivid and more accurate than it ever was.
So, I glitched it up a bit, making it feel more era-accurate.
