Plans to ban legal weed and porn might be the sort of thing that gets some less engaged voters and “lol nothing matters” voters to care.
Project 2025 would include banning legal weed, right? We should talk about that one a *lot*

banning Sunday football seems like another big one.

In a national popularity contest, I would rather be with football than against. Also, I like Sunday football.

I don'teven like football anymore but I have honored Sunday as a day to stay home doing light chores like laundry and meal prep while otherwise just taking it easy and resting for half my life and it started as me carving out time to watch the Sunday games when I did like the sport.

There's something to be said for a Sabbath, even if one is not religious.

Sabbath is a labor regulation

(Disclaimer: as was NOT how God intended, going by the words of his prophet JC according to Matthew. Throw the book at those hypocrites. Point them to the verses just before the Lord’s Prayer. Matt 6:5-7. Maybe throw in 14 as a finisher.)

Repubs still try the “Dems want to ban cheeseburgers”. Ratfucking the NFL and pinning it to P25 & Trump should be talked about now.

I still don't understand why Biden doesn't take the easy W of putting legal weed on the platform, it's a low-risk, decent reward move and my only explanation is that he still calls it "the devil's lettuce". (More seriously I can understand if Hunter's struggles with substance abuse color his views)

Biden is already trying to change marijuana from schedule 1 to schedule 3. The Republicans are resisting it. Legalization would be even better.
Avatar
My (layman’s, admittedly) understanding is that the re-scheduling is a necessary first step prior to any legalization efforts, but I could be wrong there.
Avatar
Because de-listing takes a while and requires multiple agency inputs & formal legal review, so it’s an easy promise to make but not necessarily one to keep. He did initiate the process to remove marijuana from Schedule 1 listing a few months ago, though.

I understand the practical challenges, but there are practical challenges to every big item on the platform & it doesn't stop them from campaigning on it.

This is another area where Biden has made quiet progress (pardoning federal offenses for possession was another one), and I want him to be bolder, it won't be a huge swing but would court some people on the fringes.
Avatar
Exactly! Who cares if doing it will be hard, or even impossible. Just say “we’re gonna legalize it”

This is another "it'll be easier if they have the Senate and the House" thing but even if not, there's gotta be enough support for the issue to get a bipartisan bill passed and actually address the issue at the federal level, everything is a mess of patchwork rn in the states.
Avatar
Or maybe not a total mess everywhere, just got to NY and it's been a disaster here in the early days.

There is a passage banning non-religious gatherings on Sunday, and possibly embargoing the sale of alcohol Sunday too. So they are probably going to outlaw professional sports on Sunday, or at least restrict alcohol sales on those days. Madness.
Advertise all that stuff on Barstool.

Gotta get em to the polls though

I swear project 2025 is a very scary sounding democratic operation to destroy the Republican party. Like every single insane and unpopular policy is mentioned.
