This is a great analogy, it’s more interesting because generally speaking the ND people I’ve ever worked with who also have dogs are -very good- at having dogs because they are ND. Letting them sniff the hydrant because they know what it’s like to end up spending 2h googling medieval monk habits.
Keeping Trump out of the White House isn’t the only thing that needs doing and it isn’t enough to solve all problems facing the country & world but if it isn’t done then all those problems get exponentially worse in ways I don’t even know how to express and it scares me when people pretend otherwise
This piece by @mmasnick.bsky.social is required reading. If this bill passes, Elon (or Elon wannabe) could buy TikTok. TikTok could then spread propaganda unhindered with zero regard for privacy. And POTUS would set precedent that we ban platforms like China now.

Social media has weirdly conditioned a huge number of people to feel like they're Doing Something by posting, and Doing Nothing if they don't post about a particular thing, and in general neither of those things are true.
