Is this what razor clams are supposed to look like? Green/black and small? I’ve never had them tinned before, but I remember fresh ones bring pink and straight and long.
Where my foodies at? @samer.is ?
So excited to receive this green/white kufiya made by Hirbawi—the last kufiya manufacturer still in Palestine.
A small but very beautiful way to support the Palestinian people.

Well I found the best store in Seattle (thanks @kst.bsky.social!) Big John’s PFI
A wall of tinned fish, another wall of enormous Guittard chocolate chunks, tea, fancy cheese, even fancier pasta, and yes cultured butter (from France)
I did a blind taste test of 7 spring water brands
I generally don’t care for spring water but (a) tap water here is undrinkable as it’s either fishy or way overchlorinated, and (b) apparently it’s not healthy to exclusively drink distilled water which is my actual fave.

I just decoded the results of my entirely subjective taste test and I have to laugh.
The top two are both from near Mount Diablo (Eternal and Crystal Geyser) which is where I grew up. I guess that water preference got baked in early.
Third was Icelandic.
The bottom 3 were southern California sourced plus Evian. (I already knew I disliked Evian, but I’m surprised So Cal water tastes so similar.)
Everything else was in the middle.
Test concluded. Excuse me I need to go pee now.
I haven’t made crepes in years, and buckwheat never, so these were unfortunately Not Great. Too thick, kinda bland.
But the blue oyster mushroom, savory herb, and Swiss cheese filling moooore than made up for my pastry flaws.
Related: I love my farmer’s market.
I found the beach in West Seattle, also learned that it does sometimes do more than drizzle in Seattle (it was pouring most of the day). The fish n chips was actually pretty great.
Visited some south Seattle nhoods/towns like industrial Georgetown where there was a blue sky halo over the chocolate factory and a rain cloud over the old city hall
A long day trip up to Whidbey Island for the breathtaking view of Deception Pass (and from the bridge). Also the quaint little farm towns established on island prairie land stolen from the Snohomosh and other tribes.
Vacation food… oysters and geoduck at Taylor’s (twice), rhubarb shrub and rhubarb cobbler at Westward, snails and rosemary haricots verts at Prima in Langley, Spud’s fish n chips, three (3) pizza deliveries, and a rhubarb pie from Whidbey pies.
The Chihuly Museum is exactly what you’d expect if you’ve ever seen his primary color penis chandeliers in Atlantic City. It’s not my thing, but my friend was glad we went. I did see some beautiful bowls very unlike his other work but turns out they were “inspired by” native artists (sigh)
Stella flipped a treat off her nose and ACTUALLY CAUGHT IT MIDAIR FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME!!!
Here is the marvelous creature herself, still begging after three (3) treats
