i still have my twitter account and previously when i wouldn't use the app for several days i'd get push notifications of breaking news stories, politicians, friends' posts, trying to lure me back. now those push notifications, a good 90% of the time, are far-right content
If this is what theyre doing with heavy handed moderation decisions imagine what they are doing with the algorithm that chooses which posts to show users
you will simply have to take my word for it that it is highly unlikely that my twitter use created this user profile of me that twitter is just dutifully following lol
I broke a 10 mo strike to confront an anti gay activist who's targeting LGBT Catholic youth with a queerphobic "curriculum," and it was really disheartening to see how inured a lot of my old mutuals have become to hateful behavior. Twitter is having a corrosive effect on its users consciences.
it's something i worry about but it's hard to know what to do. people don't tend to respond well to "you're being brainwashed!" no matter how delicately worded
