Firefighters to the Rescue! by R.W. Alley offers a character-packed, behind-the-scenes look at working firefighters. Children can revisit profiles of the "guts" of firetrucks, turnout gear and firefighter activities in the community and at the station. Nice work, @kane-press.bsky.social #kidlit 📚👍

Michael Rosen’s Sad Book - illustrated by Quentin Blake - is the true story of a parent who has lost a child. Rosen introduces the idea that we may mask as happy when we are actually sad, and shares how he grieves, endures and finds meaning. It’s a necessary tool and a beautiful tribute. #kidlit 📚👍

I recently applied to be a Canadian rep on the @katemessner.bsky.social school librarian advisory team and was lucky enough to be accepted. As such, I’ve just had a sneak peak at her latest, a digital copy of Over & Under the Wetland, illustrated by Silas Neal (avail August).

Today I got my first email from @katemessner.bsky.social's Teachers Write online summer camp. Kate shares edits and correspondence for part of Over and Under the Wetland. It's rare to see visual glimpses of the author/editor process, and I'm super appreciative of the look behind the scenes. #kidlit

Just ran into the @fuse8.bsky.social podcast crew and was too starstruck to ask for a photo. Hopefully will not be as shy in the future. @exlibrismrhunt.bsky.social - your name came up and we talked podcast. The crew said they'd listen so now we gotta do it, bud. #ala #alaac24

My favorite jacaranda is in bloom. When it returns, I think of one of my favorite haikus by Richard Wright. Keep straight down this block, Then turn right where you will find A peach tree blooming

I found a well-adored copy of Rumpelstiltskin in the library filed under "Grimm," and I was astounded by the extraordinary detail of @paulozelinsky.bsky.social's artwork. Each page looks like it could hang in The Met, and the visual storytelling is impeccable. It has aged immaculately. #kidlit 📚👍🏼

The Black Book of Colors by Menena Cottin and Rosana Faria features poetry, raised images and Braille to offer readers an array of sensory impressions of color. I took a break from shelving at the library to read it with my eyes open and closed, and it brought me tremendous joy. #kidlit 📚👍
