13 years after announcing his new series, Ken Penders has released The Lara-Su Chronicles: Beginnings
In my in-depth review, I answer all your burning questions about how bad it is, how this thing can even exist, and what's up with the breastfeeding thankskenpenders.tumblr.com/post/7549307...
Archie Sonic wasn't, like, Batman huge, but it was very popular for a North America-exclusive licensed video game comic, and for much of his run Ken was the fan favorite writer. (retrospective opinions have, of course, been less positive lol)
I know of the series generally (I was following a lot of independents in that era) and that the series was popular with a lot of people, I just know nothing of individual artists and writers for it.
For what it's worth, as someone who lived through it at the time, I do feel like even at the time the LEGEND of Penders outstripped the reality; I know I personally tended to think he wrote significantly more stories back then than he actually did.
It blows my mind that he was popular. I was young enough that I didn't take note of the authors -- yet even back then, I felt so disappointed by all the lazy and pointless parts. The one thing keeping me invested was my sister, who would have memorized a phone book if it had Knuckles on the cover.
