Just wish this had mentioned that, in 2024, most places--1st, 2nd, OR 3rd--don't feel safe for many in the community because so many others refuse to take the most basic of precautions: masking against a virus. 😞

Ah, thanks! I read it quickly and missed that. In my mind, COVID is, right now, THE reason why most can't seek a '3rd place' and it seems incumbent upon the writers of this piece to shine a much BIGGER and BRIGHTER spotlight on it--and who knows, even make it the focus. 🙁

Saw folks talkin on the other site about how kids have no third places anymore.

Living in an area where children have places to go should be as important to parents as living in a good school district.

It would be nice if we could get more hangout places. A good idea would be to fund them with purely optional food/drink purchases, and otherwise make the actual entertainment free. This way if someone is strapped for cash that week they don't have to be turned away or have someone else pay.

Could definitely use more plazas and parks and commercial-adjacent spaces, where people can gather freely.

The only "third space" that doesnt involve church around here is bars. No thanks
