Result of the night? The swing from the Tories to the far left in North Hereford is incredible. Clearly letting agri business turn the river Wye into a sewer doesn’t go down well with locals. But still, you have to be pretty determined to swing that far left.

Halcyon at Bristol Fringe last night. Catchy, fun, technically awesome modern jazz, by local millennials. My piano teacher, Sam, on keys. The drummer was outstanding! Saxophonist too. And this was their last ever gig. Out on a high! 👏🏻🙌🏻

Kings of Leon at Ashton Gate stadium last night! Great gig (but drummer had a night to forget, I reckon). The Vaccines and Holly Humberstone were fab support!

The deputy head masters got a soaking at our kids’ school summer fete this weekend! Does this carnival flatten the hierarchy, reinforce it, upend it? Tom loved it, whatever. Maybe this is something to introduce in higher education too? (The replacement candy floss man did his best)

The quintessential book about books, whether you were brought up posh or not. A great read about punk, reading, collecting books, and family mental health. Highly recommended 📚
