Ah quite. But it also becomes a powerful cudgel against the briber: if you fall out of favor, or if the president wants people to think they are against corruption, you can be in trouble at their whim
Fun question to think about: if this is the (former) president's personal privilege, and it precludes the introduction of evidence in the trials of others too, what happens when the president dies?
