So can’t Biden now, as an official act, render Trump ineligible to run? Strip him of citizenship? Do anything that will force Republicans, for a change, to waste time in court fighting the very powers they just ‘won’?
I may be wrong, but the Supreme Court seems about to confirm that our president could take out “a corrupt opponent” and get away with it if it is an official act.
I would hope that some of the judges in the immunity trial might pose hypotheticals in the form “So if President Joe Biden did such and such, he’d be immune from prosecution?”
Judge LaDoris Cordell was incredible on Chris Hayes tonight. Said Marchan could find Trump in contempt of gag order & give him jail time, but with a stay that it wouldn’t be executed until after the trial, “perhaps while the jury is deliberating.”
No, this shows the challenges of picking a jury for a defendant who has a history of intimidation campaigns against jurors and court officers and also organizing political violence. This is not about polarization.
