I saw a family of Stilts (Mom, Dad, two young'uns) from the bike trail & scrabbled down to the channel to see them.
I'd thought I'd scared them away, then, minutes later, this stately lady waltzed right past me. So awkward on land, but they move like silk through the shallows.

This wkend was the first time I got to see the female Sandhill Crane at the lakefront since early spring.After more than two months trying to successfully produce offspring sitting on 2 nests and keep colts fed…and losing three of the four colts, she looks remarkably beautiful!🪶
