Personally speaking, I've never felt that expectation. I simply cherish my partners and it makes me immeasurably happy being around them. To me, that is all the incentive I need.

I don't put feel any pressure from others to put them up there simply *because* they are my partners. Not to say that it's not something that can happen or invalidate any of your experiences. I guess I just managed to surround myself with people who share similar mindsets.
