I'm still in the early scenes (Jeffrey has just gotten Sandy to commit to abetting the Friday break-in at Dorothy's) and the tension between the hushed/furtive conversations and what I know is coming is practically unbearable.
I don't have any of the tech to take advantage of 4K but the Blue Velvet release would be my first purchase. The last time I watched that movie it completely broke me. If I had to pick a best American film of the last 50 years ...
The cut to it in THE SQUID AND THE WHALE is a great one, though. (If I recall, Jesse Eisenberg wanted to take his date to THE MOTHER AND THE WHORE (!!) but Jeff Daniels insisted he go see BV.)
someone in the know told me that if your display is 65" or less, you won't be able to differentiate Blu-ray from 4K. now, I don't have the best eyesight but I found this to be untrue. all this is to say, if you find you have the means, this disc may well make you a believer. it's got it.
