This child garden apocalypse is like a piece of Pop Art

Someone tell me what the point of this is - slow handclap #cadburys

Wow, Ridley Scott is really drawing me in with the “economic sense” of the Gladiator sequel. I’d hate to watch a film that didn’t have a sound commercial grounding. That, and plenty of those ultrahigh definition pixels. And channels of sound, the more channels of sound, the better.

a light clean and a new armrest today gave this ancient banjolele a new lease of life - I restored it a couple of years ago from a pile of scrap and tuned in 5ths like a tenor banjo it packs a real punch, nice and portable too

Total success again with this lightly sparkling spruced mead - I think swapping out one jar of honey for some Demerara sugar has made a subtle improvement in body and sweetness and I soft pedalled the spruce tips flavour - they go a long way. This is one I can reproduce consistently. ~5.8% ABV

I mean this is Irish literature, translated from the Irish, by an Irishman (Ciaran Carson), in Ireland. Even then I was not prepared for how Irish it would be. #TheTain

A few years ago there were these weeds in the cracks in the wall and I was tired and thought fuck it, let’s see what happens.

Ended up getting these lovely bottles from the Homebrew Centre on eBay, far higher quality and eight of them for the price of three from Amazon.
Amazon has no quality control whatsoever, another delivery will have to go straight back for just being the wrong thing / not remotely like its picture. I don’t mind having a wee walk to the post office, but how are they making money with so many poorly described products going straight back?

To be fair this Halifax in the UK

I wonder if people realise this is already a thing in the UK, under Theresa May a number of Civil Service positions were restricted to “sole UK nationals”.

Aw balls my floorboards are bleeding 🩸 again into the basement, I knew we should have had the house checked for structural stigmata

Ordered this tiny little thing (a Baglamas) from Greece on Etsy - great portable fun for not a whole lot of money, including free delivery. www.etsy.com/uk/listing/8...

See also this awesome black duck I photographed in York last year - possibly a Pomeranian Duck?

Really chuffed with the rosewood mandolin armrest I managed to make for the little Ashbury Unfortunately I made it out of two (inadequate) mandolin armrests bodged together If I continue exponentially I will have converted the Earth’s resources into a single perfect mandolin armrest within 23 days

Imported this from American eBay, if it ever had a UK publication I couldn’t find any copies. One of her last works.

“Gift for Mandolin Player” I know one thing I really look for as a mandolin player is a solid block of unplayable wood shaped a bit like a mandolin but instead has a mandolin drawn on the side.

Strawberry patch really starting to er… bear fruit The local foxes, slugs, slaters, ants and as we saw last week centipedes are all having a field day. We’re rescuing what we can for human consumption and leaving plenty for the wildlife.

*Finally* got the Mac Mini working properly

Schuh sent me a pair of ‘new’ shoes on overnight delivery, clearly worn and badly marked. To get them replaced - up to ten working days! Wouldn’t recommend.

Now this is interesting. Sorghum, Maple Syrup, Honey, Hops and *Coriander* - a bit of a random mix of things I had to use up. Smells really good, flavour a bit rougher as it’s only conditioned a week, but very promising it should mellow out now in the cellar. 6.8%

Last post before work, check out the monster eating our strawberries! I shook him off and gave it a good wash, but when I pulled the green leafy head off it was full of ants! At least we’re giving something back to the local biosphere.

It was this retaining wall at the top of a muddy incline that attracted our attention.
