This week, we’re deploying more advanced automated tooling to flag content that violates the Community Guidelines to our moderation team.
We’ll iterate on this so that mods can review offensive content, spam, etc. without any user seeing it first. That said, your reports help keep the network safe!
We’re also adding back the ability to report your own posts for mislabeled content. This will help the moderation team fix incorrect labels.
In the meantime, other accounts can submit reports on your behalf. Please add details to the report for a wrong label. We will be improving this in-app copy.
Another in-progress feature coming soon is reply controls, so users can set who can reply to their posts — for example, only people you follow, users on a certain list, etc.
Some features that we’ve recently released:
• User Lists and Moderation Lists — add users to generic lists, or add them to moderation lists that you can easily mute or block.
• Sync Moderation Preferences between devices
• Remove adult content labels on posts that do not contain images
While it's outside the scope of this, I think it'd be really cool to be able to add adult content flags to text-only posts too. Currently if I want to post some adult text posts and still let it be filtered for people I need to type it into Paint, upload that image, then flag it which is.. odd
Sync Moderation Preferences between devices. Seems weird. Are these stored locally, rather than centrally somewhere along with other aspects of your profile?
In the matter, the focus is to limit minors accessing nudity, not to protect the feelings of art professionnals.
This can be debatable, but case by case analysis is very difficult and expensive to settle.
I'm sad that you took the Twitter model of not being able to add a list while adding a person to a list. my lists always started as an impulse, followed by liking the tweet to save it, going back to settings, making the list, back to liked tweets... Ugh.
Oh I’m glad to hear all this, especially the lists, that will be so handy for finding groups of like minded people in a community, I can’t ever remember all the handles 💙
is this going to be an account setting or a per post setting?
it would be really powerful to make a feed that only shows posts which are both 1) made by list members 2) marked as reply-limited to that list
but not other, unrelated posts from those accounts
reply limiting is a vital tool on social media, thank you for working on implementing it!
locked/private accounts would be nice to see in the future, along with the ability for users to manually remove followers. thank you for your hard work!
I'm so happy you brought lists, but can you give us the ability to turn off replies and also allow reposts to be seen in them. Deck blue has the ability to turn off replies and it makes is so much more viewable. I don't want to see all the replies the people in it to people I don't follow.
One feature to steal from Threads, would be the ability for users to mark a comment in their posts to "hide for everyone," and then that reply is invisible to everyone else but the reply-person, who sees it as live.
